J is a registered educator in Hong Kong. Her enlightenment moment is when she studies shampoo soap-making from Claire’s handmadesoap in Taiwan in 2015, she realizes it’s possible to make detergent without buying ready-made products in plastic package. And here comes her journey to make beauty and personal care products using natural ingredients (thanks for her science background!)
She is also inspired by Lauren Singer who is the zero-waste lifestyle icon in New York City. After working in organic and zero-waste grocery shops for 5+ years, she understands how crucial is the procurement, operation and management to reduce waste from suppliers to customers. Her experience from the retail industry shows that most customers look at brand and package, whilst to J, ingredients with less chemical additives and quality matter more than package. These exposure let J accumulate some eco-friendly tips which are super convenient and easy to share with people in busy cities.
